ADOT Announces Rock Containment Project North of Globe on US 60

Drivers should expect lane closures and reduced speed limits

A rock containment project on US 60 within the San Carlos and White Mountain Apache Reservations (mileposts 290, 295, 296 and 321) will begin Tuesday, October 15. The project boundaries are 35 miles north of Globe and approximately 18 miles south of Show Low.

This $1 million project will include repairing rock containment fences and support structures, rock scaling, minor pavement widening and resurfacing, grading excavation ditches and cleaning culverts. The project will continue into January when it will be shut down for the winter and will resume in spring 2014.

Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Safety for the traveling public and the construction workers will require total lane closures and one-way lane closures at different times during the project. Closures could last up to 30 minutes. Motorists are advised to plan for delays when traveling between Globe and Show Low.
