Election Services - Special District

Special Districts include fire districts, sanitary districts, water districts and wastewater districts.  The Department of Elections has oversight responsibility for Special District formation and elections.  Petitions are filed with this office for the creation of a district, the annexation of new property into a district and to dissolve a district.

Additionally, special districts may contract with the Department of Elections to conduct district elections.  Board Member resignations and appointments are also processed by the office.
