  PRESS RELEASE

From the Office of the Gila County Treasurer

TAX NOTICE MAILING DELAYED

In an effort to upgrade information systems, while controlling costs, the Assessor’s Offices of five counties, Apache, Gila, Greenlee, Navajo and Santa Cruz purchased a mass appraisal system. It was believed at the time that tax information transfers would appear to be trouble-free.

Technical difficulties have transpired in transferring the data from one system to the other.   Just as one issue gets resolved another appears. When the first information was sent to “the printer”, the Treasurer’s Office was notified that the data files were not compatible with what was on file.   All five counties are having the same difficulty in printing and mailing tax notices.

Every effort is being made to resolve the issue and tax notices will be sent out as soon as available. Due dates and delinquency dates will be adjusted and put on the notices to compensate for the late mailing.

If there are any questions or concerns please contact the Gila County Treasurer’s Office at 928-425-3231, extension 8702 or 8703.

The tax statement is comprised of a levy amount set by several taxing authorities. Treasurers do not set tax rates; however, the Treasurer is responsible for the collection of all taxes billed.

Listed below are the taxing authorities:

The State Legislature, through statutes, sets the rates for School Equalization.
The Board of Supervisors sets the rate for Gila County
