Getting Official Floodplain Information:
We´re here to help with any floodplain question or needs you may have. To get an official determination of whether a parcel lies within a regulatory floodplain, to obtain a floodplain use permit , or if you simply have floodplain management questions or concerns, give us a call at (928) 425-3231, extension 8509. You may also visit our office located in the Guerrero building next to the Gila County Courthouse at 1400 East Ash, Globe, AZ 85501. We look forward to working with you.

Our job in Floodplain Management is to assist Gila County property owners with any floodplain building or drainage issues they may encounter. We´re here to help minimize flood hazards to Gila County residents. We want to ensure that your life, your property, or the new home you build will be safe during flooding events. We also want to make sure any structures or improvements in the floodplain will not cause drainage problems for your neighbors either upstream or downstream.

One of the ways we accomplish these tasks is by enforcing floodplain regulations that are included in the Gila County Floodplain Management Ordinance. This ordinance was developed to conform with the federal government´s National Flood Insurance Program. The ordinance includes a series of provisions that regulate the location and construction of buildings and other man-made structures within designated floodplain areas. The regulations are there to help maintain the integrity of floodplain areas and to ensure that people and property in flood prone areas are protected from flooding events and flood damages.
