Frequently asked questions regarding benefits for Public Works employees

Q. If the work week starts on Monday and Friday is a holiday and I work 8 hours on Friday, will I get holiday pay and overtime?
A. You receive holiday pay but you must actually work 40 hours before you can receive time and a half.

Q. Who can I contact if I have a personal/confidential benefit question?
A. If you are a participant in the medical plan and have a question you may contact Juley Bocardo-Homan at x8724 or you can call the provider (Administrative Enterprises, Inc.) at 800-762-2234.  You may also ask Shannon Boyer @ x8899.

Q. Will the County cover the purchase of required safety footwear?
A. Public Works employees that are required to wear safety footwear will be reimbursed up to $100 for the purchase of safety footwear if the employee has the pre-approval of their supervisor.  The employee must provide a copy of the receipt of purchase along with the employee’s signature.  (Only one reimbursable purchase per year is allowed.)

Q. How often should I get a tetanus shot?
A. A tetanus dose is needed every 10 years.
