Work Set to Begin on Six Shooter Canyon Sidewalk Thanks to County Grant
Thanks to grant funding secured by Gila County Public Works, work is scheduled to begin on a sidewalk for a portion of Six Shooter Canyon outside of Globe.
A Transportation Enhancement Grant from the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) will fund the bulk of the project, which is set to start Aug. 18. ADOT will begin with survey work, followed by construction of 2,100 feet of new concrete sidewalk along Six Shooter Canyon Road between Cherokee Drive and Remington.
The new sidewalk will include ramps that meet requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and drainage improvements that include new curb and gutter along Six Shooter Canyon Road within the project area. Construction of the sidewalk is expected to be complete in late September 2016.
Work on the project will be weekdays from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. and will require reduced speed limits in and approaching the project area, as well as occasional flagging operations when lane closures are needed on the two-lane roadway.
For more information about this project, please call C.T. Revere, ADOT Senior Community Relations Officer, at 1.520.705.3574 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
