Gila County Officer of the Quarter - 2nd Quarter 2009 Gila County Sheriff's Office Lt. Swede Carlson Four times each year, the Gila County Attorney’s Office recognizes a member of the Gila County Law Enforcement community for his/her superior service in the prosecution of criminal matters. The County Attorney reviews numerous recommendations, but selects the officer who at the time best illustrates an exemplary attitude and work ethic. Gila County Attorney Daisy Flores has announced her office has recognized Gila County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Swede Carlson, as the Officer of the Quarter. The Officer of the Quarter award was presented to Lt. Carlson on June 23, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. during the Gila County Board of Supervisors’ meeting in appreciation of his service, professional attitude, and assistance to the County Attorney’s Office. William “Swede” Carlson moved to the Rim Country with his wife and began working with the Gila County Sheriff’s Office as a Detention Officer in November of 1999. One year later, he was promoted to corporal and in November of 2005, promoted again to sergeant. On June 30, 2008, William Carlson was promoted for the 3rd time to the rank of lieutenant. Lt. Carlson’s dedication, professionalism, hard work and training have been an outstanding example for all Gila County Sheriff’s Officers and a role model to the detention staff in particular. Lt. Carlson has been the recipient of the Detention Supervisor of the Quarter Award, as well as being selected numerous times to teach and train new cadets and senior staff for the Arizona Detention Academies for the State of Arizona. It is with great honor that Gila County Attorney’s Office acknowledges Lt. Carlson and we commend him for his hard work and dedication to our county. This award is being presented in recognition of Lt. Carlson’s service, professional attitude, and assistance to the County Attorney’s Office. Professionally, we are recognizing Lt. Carlson because he is an excellent supervisor and serves as an outstanding example to others. Personally, he is a community minded individual, who serves his community with caring and compassion.
