CAAG REGIONAL COUNCIL ELECTS NEW OFFICERS

Three new officers were elected to the Central Arizona Association of Governments’ (CAAG) Regional Council at their November 28, 2007 meeting. The Town of Hayden and Mayor Monica Badillo hosted the meeting at the Hayden Senior Center. 

Florence Mayor Tom Rankin was unanimously elected as the Regional Council Chair replacing Mayor Michael Hing from Superior. Star Valley Mayor Chuck Heron was unanimously elected to the position of Vice Chair, replacing Mayor Monica Badillo from Hayden. Mayor John Insalaco of Apache Junction filled the position of Secretary/Treasurer, replacing Debra Sommers from Kearny.
 
The officers will also serve as the sole members of the CAAG Executive Committee. As such, the officers are charged with the responsibility of assisting CAAG in the determination of goals and objectives, and fiscal and program policy.
 
The terms of office began on December 1st and will continue through September, 2008. The Regional Council holds at least 6 meetings per year, and unless otherwise noted, on the 4th Wednesday of the month. The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Regional Council is January 30 hosted by the Town of Queen Creek.
 
CAAG was created by the Governor’s Executive Order 70-4 (1970) and is a regional planning organization and Economic Development District. CAAG serves Gila and Pinal Counties and the communities of Globe, Hayden, Miami, Payson, Star Valley, Winkelman, Apache Junction, Casa Grande, Coolidge, Eloy, Florence, Kearny, Mammoth, Maricopa, Queen Creek, and Superior. For more information concerning CAAG, its programs, and/or councils & committees, please call (480) 474-9300, 1-800-782-1445 (V/TTY), TDD (480) 671-5252.
