Gila County Bikes for Kids Program

 

 

 

The Gila County Public Works Division has teamed up with Arizona Department of Corrections again to bring “new” bikes to children in Gila County. Over 50 bikes were pulled from the landfill and taken to the Globe unit of the Department of Corrections where they were rebuilt, receiving new parts, tires and a fresh coat of paint so they would be ready for Santa’s Elves. 

The bikes will be on display at the Globe Courthouse on December 11th. After that, they will be turned over to CASA, DES and local fire and police departments in all communities in Gila County for distribution to qualifying children. 

The companies that we would like to recognize for contributing are: Gila County Solid Waste Department, Payson Police Department, Merle’s Auto of Globe, Napa of Globe, Napa of Stafford, Bush & Shirts Restaurant of Safford, Dave’s Fast Stop of Central Heights and Mr. Roscoe of Miami. The Department of Corrections would like to include an extra Thank You to the community for its support, and a special Thanks to Mrs. Culpepper.
