Supervisor Dawson Hosts Conference for Young Gila County Leaders

Supervisor Shirley Dawson brought a delegation of Gila County's best and brightest to the Capitol this week to learn first-hand about state policy-making.  Close to 40 students, representing student government in six high schools, participated in the event. After touring the legislature and Governor's office, the group convened at CSA for some policy talk and Honey Bear's BBQ. Senators Flake and Rios, along with Representatives Crandall, Konopnicki, McGuire and Rios joined the luncheon and shared their perspectives on leadership. The legislators expressed the need for strong rural leadership at the Capitol and encouraged the students to make a commitment to public service.

Special thanks to Terry Dalton (Sup. Dawsons assistant) and Yvonne Ortega for putting together an outstanding event.
