- In 2008 Gila County was ranked #1 in the State of Arizona for the number of births to females aged 19 years old or younger.

Risk factors: - Teens are less likely to have prenatal care in their first trimester.
- Teens have a greater rate of stillbirths.
- Babies born to teen mothers have an elevated risk for poor birth outcomes such as low birth weight, pre-term birth and death in infancy.
- Risk factors are increased due to the limited educational, social and financial resources available to teen mothers.
