   Sexually Transmitted Diseases 

It is the responsibility of the Nursing Department to prevent the spread of disease and to promote healthy behaviors within the community.  The nursing staff provides this service by monitoring the health status of the community to identify potential health problems.  Once a health problem is diagnosed they begin an investigation of those health problems so that the community can be informed, educated and empowered regarding the identified health issue.

The Office of Health Services helps to prevent the spread of disease by:

  • Supplying forms to the local health care facilities for suspected or confirmed cases.
  • Forwards all reports to the State Health Department.
  • Conducts investigations, as indicated.
  • Partner notification, as indicated.
  • Conducts surveillance.
  • Determines trends.
  • Free referrals for those unable to pay a contract
    physician for:
    ° Testing
    ° Treatment
    ° Follow-up
    ° Patient Education and teaching materials.
