| Waste Water Training On December 4, 2001, the Gila County Board of Supervisors approved Ordinance #01-2, which became effective January 1, 2002. Ordinance #01-2 states the minimum qualification standards for persons performing Soil Classification, Percolation Tests, Site Assessments, On-site Wastewater Treatment Facility Design; prohibiting performance of such services by persons with a documented history of reporting inaccurate results, producing inadequate designs, or other potentially unethical of unacceptable behavior; additionally, Notice of Intent to Discharge, Design & Installation Requirements, Repair of existing On-site Wastewater Treatment Facilities; Penalties; and Appeals Process. Twice a year, the Gila County Environmental Health Department facilitates Wastewater Training Classes. In order to receive a Certificate of Training and be included on the GCHD Contractors List, each participant must attend the two full days of class and pass the open book examination with 80% or better. Those who fail the exam will be given the chance to take the exam again after approximately two weeks of self-study. The names of those who have successfully passed the examination will be placed on the GCHD Contractors List for a period of two years. After two years, each person on the Contractors List will need to recertify, and again, pass the examination to stay on the list. The GCHD Contractors List is divided into three sections: On-Site Wastewater Treatment Facility Site Evaluators, Designers, and Contractors. |
