Programs and Partnerships
The Gila County Sheriff's Office is pleased to offer and support Programs and Partnerships that assist the community and add to the security, as well as the enjoyment, of living in Gila County. Viewed as extended family to the Sheriff's Office, the Programs and Partnerships are listed below:
Civilian Observer Program
The Civilian Observer Program allows citizens the opportunity to accompany a Sheriff's Deputy in the performance of law enforcement duties. This program offers Gila County citizens insight into the work performed and actions taken by an on-duty Sheriff's Deputy in the course of his/her shift. In order to participate, please review and complete the Application and Liability Waiver Civilian Observer Program Form.
The Dive Team is called into service when a body or a piece of evidence is below the water's surface. Though this duty is voluntary and members are responsible for their own training and equipment, they are always ready to respond when needed. The Dive Team is comprised of Deputies and Detention Officers.
Gila County Sheriff's Mounted Posse
For the first time in Gila County history the Gila County Sheriff's Office has a certified Mounted Posse. The Mounted Posse consists of Deputies who have completed the Arizona Post Academy for Mounted Crowd Control. In the event of large crowds the Mounted Posse is available and prepared to keep the order.
