Welcome to the Gila County Recorder's Office

     Welcome to the home page for the Gila County Recorder’s Office.  It is both a privilege and an honor to serve the citizens of Gila County as the Recorder.  

     Sadie Jo Tomerlin  was first elected to the position of Gila County Recorder in November of 2008. She was originally appointed to the position in February 2008 by the Gila County Board of Supervisors following the retirement of Recorder Linda Haught Ortega and was Re-elected in the General Election of 2012. Sadie’s years of service with Gila County began in 2003 as a temporary clerk for the Recorder’s Office. She is the youngest elected Recorder in Arizona history. Sadie Jo was the President of the Arizona Recorder’s Association. Before being elected President she served as the Vice President and the Secretary/Treasurer.

      Sadie Jo has been a resident of Gila County all her life. She is the sixth generation in Gila County. She graduated from Globe High School. She is heavily vested in Gila County, her three children go to school there, are involved in local sports teams (which she helps coach). This area is dear to her heart, this is where her roots lie and her desire to provide the best possible service to her fellow residents shows in everything she does.

      The Recorder’s Office is focused on our mission, which is to promptly record, preserve, and provide access to public records in the most accurate, efficient, responsible and professional manner.      

Duties and Authority of the County Recorder:

The duties and authority of the County Recorder are established by state law. The County Recorder records and indexes documents deposited in her office that are authorized, entitled or required by law to be recorded. The County Recorder collects the fees required by state law for the performance of her services. The County Recorder is not authorized to give legal advice. The County Recorder is not authorized to determine legal rights and responsibilities of the parties to the documents that she records.
