This department consists of three programs: - Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program
- Housing Rehabilitation Program
- Weatherization Assistance Program.
Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program: is federally funded rental assistance administered by the Gila County Public Housing Authority (PHA). The purpose of the program is to provide rental assistance to low income families, and ensure the housing is affordable, decent, safe and sanitary. Housing Rehabilitation Program: is funded through the Arizona Department of Housing. This program assists Gila County residents with repairs to rehabilitate their homes and bring them up to minimum standards (HQS or State Rehabilitation Standards). Weatherization Assistance Program: is funded through various state, local and private sources. The purpose of weatherization assistance is to improve the health, safety and energy efficiency of homes for low income Gila County residents. INTER-AGENCY NETWORK: The Globe-Miami Inter-Agency network meetings are coordinated through the Housing Services Department. To the right is the 2005 Inter-Agency Directory. ADEQ Ground and Surface Water Improvement Program The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has provided Gila County Housing Services Department with funding to repair or replace failing septic systems located on the Tonto and Christopher Creek areas of northern Gila County.
