Gila Employment and Special Training Program coordinates with County, State and Federal Governments in an joint effort to better serve the citizens of Gila County. The Demonstration Project began in 1975 and was founded on the principle of “Acceptance.” Establishing community acceptance of individuals with disabilities is, and always will be our priority.
The program name has changed to Gila Employment and Special Training, but our goal remains the same as we provide daily living skills and employment supports through services such as: (HAH) Habilitation Support, (HAI) Habilitation Individually Designed Living Arrangement, (ATC) Attended Care,(RSP) Respite, (DTA) Day Treatment & Training Adult Program, (DTT) Day Treatment & Training Children Summer Program, (TRA) Transportation, (GSE) Group Supported Employment, (ISE) Individual Supported Employment, (ESA) Employment Support Aide, (TRE) Employment Related Transportation, (JD/P) Job Development and Placement, (WAT) Work Adjustment Training, (OAD) Orientation/Adjustment to Disabilities, (ESE) Extended Supported Employment, (SE) Supported Employment and (SE) Supported Education. GEST staff includes a Disability Specialist who helps those with disabilities navigate our Comprehensive One Stop Center and in creating resumes, job search, applying for employment, interviewing skills, and provides disability awareness to employers along with assisting with any ADA questions or concerns. MISSION STATEMENT: “TO PROVIDE EMPLOYMENT SERVICES ALONG WITH DAILY LIVING SKILLS TO DISABLE CLIENTS IN A MANNER WHICH SUPPORTS AND ENHANCES SELF SUFFICIENCY, SELF ESTEEM, MUTUAL RESPECT, VALUE AND DIGNITY.” OUR GOAL: “THE GOAL OF OUR PROGRAM IS TO PROVIDE INSTRUCTION IN THE NECESSARY SKILLS AND SUPPORTS TO ENABLE THE CONSUMER TO REACH THEIR INDIVIDUAL GOALS, AND TO PROVIDE THE VERY BEST EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING SERVICES TO THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE BARRIERS TO EMPLOYMENT.” FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION CONTACT:
